FireNews.net RALEIGH - Raleigh Fire Lieutenant Herman Jones passed away Tuesday, January 22nd in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Lieutenant Jones was on duty Friday evening and reportedly suffered chest pains. He was transported to a local medical facility. Firefighter Jones was assigned to Engine 10 (C-shift) in the southeastern portion of the city.

Reidsville, NC -- A volunteer firefighter on his way to a house fire Tuesday morning crashed in his pickup truck and died. It happened on Business 29 near Crutchfield Road northeast of Reidsville. The North Carolina Fallen Firefighters Foundation is looking for volunteers to help staff the booth at the NC State Fair.  It will be held in Raleigh on Oct 12-21 2007. Volunteers are requested if possible to sign up for 1 or more shifts.  

Firefighters at the Anderson Township Volunteer Fire Department lost one of their own to a car accident. Captain Michael Dean Stanfield was killed Sept. 10. Stanfield responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident in his privately owned vehicle with other members of his department.
