Hello everyone,
It’s that time again we are planning for the North Carolina Fallen Firefighters Foundation Memorial Weekend. Again, this year we are looking for Family Escorts, as many of you have served before, I am asking if you are interested in serving again, please let me know by January 31,2026, if you would like to be considered for this year’s memorial weekend. This year we may go back to a single escort per family depending on size of the family or if the family has any special needs. Once the escorts have been chosen for the 2026 Memorial Weekend you will be notified by email. If you are chosen you will need to be in Raleigh on Friday May 8, 2026, by 0930 am at the memorial site for escort check-in and a mandatory escort meeting. If you are not chosen, this year you will also receive an email letting you know as well. If you aren’t chosen this year and would like to assist NCFFF with the memorial weekend you can fill out a Logistical Support Team Application found on our website and contact Bryan Southerland and let him know you are interested in being on the support team and helping with the memorial weekend.
Once you arrive you will get your family assignment and escort package. Your Escort packet will include your name tag credentials, family assignment, important contact information for foundation point of contract, family contact information so you can reach out and find out what time they will arrive at the hotel, and a bio on your firefighter.
This is the most important and rewarding job on memorial weekend as you will be the family’s point of contact and guide for the entire time, they are with us Friday and Saturday. Again, this year as in the past you will be rooming with another Family Escort on Friday night at the host hotel. If you or your department is providing your room if selected, we will provide the host hotel information. If you will be booking your own room, please let me know so that we can plan rooms accordingly.
