National Spinning Company firefighters James L. Harris, Gregory M. Lamm, Asa T. Squires, and Jesse M. Woodard, Jr. who died September 7, 1982. The four members of the National Spinning Company plant fire brigade died after overcome by smoke, while trying to extinguish a 12:08 a.m. fire in a dyed yarn storage area.
