On Tuesday, April 25, 1961, a forest fire started about eight miles from Columbia in Tyrrell County.  Strong winds fanned the blaze.  By the next day, the blaze had burned over seven thousand acres owned by West Virginia Pulp and Paper Company.  (The paper company held timber in Dare, Tyrrell, and Washington Counties.) › Continue reading
