Daniel C. Cope was my great grandfather and Eddie my great Uncle. Obviously I never got to meet them, but it would have been an honor. They died fighting to keep their community safe. May God bless each and every fire fighter’s family that has been left behind and also to the ones that are still fighting to keep us safe.

In 2008 Curtis Jessen A personal friend and co-worker of mine was killed in the line of duty on a wildfire in Polk County,NC. He touched every person he ever came in contact with and was one of the knowledgeable firefighters i have ever know. He was a great man and a wonderful firefighter. He will be missed by us all. We will see you again one day in the presence of the Lord.R.I.P. Curtis

I am writing on behalf of the Richard Miller family. Losing Richard on December 29, 2009 was, perhaps, the hardest thing our family has ever endured. I just want to say thank you for the van that was provided to ensure our family could ride/stay together as the events of his burial unfolded. It was nice to not have to worry about who was the least upset and best suitable to drive. Again, thank you for all that you do and all that I know you will continue to do to remember our fallen heroes. God bless you all

For the men and women in the service out there. May God bless each one of us who run these calls every hour of the day. Please, let’s all take the time to be as Safe as we can as we respond, as we work, and as we return from the scene of each call. We can not help someone if we are not there. Merry Christmas to all of my Hero’s.

I just wanted to stop by and say how much the NCFFF mean to me and my family. I know that this is a very sad time of year for the family and friends of the fallen firefighters, but always remember that they are in our thoughts and prayers. I know what the NCFFF has meant to me in keeping Brian Cannon memory alive. Each day Keith and I try to do something that will keep all the fallen firefighter memory alive for their family, so they will know that they have not been forgotten. Pease take the time today to let a firefighter, police officer, highway patrol offficer, EMS and solider know that we appreciate what they do for us to keep us safe each day. Have a Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year.

As I send this message another memorial service has gone by. I think the parade and the service are the least that we can do to honor our firefighters whether man or woman. Thank you foundation for the awesome work you do to prepare the weekend for the families each and every year. I actually look foward to that 1st weekend in May each year that I can go and see my Dads name on the plaque along with the other FF who made the ultimate sacrifice. So again I say thank you to the foundation and also to the FF who make that choice to protect the lives and property of your community. God bless the survivors of a fallen FF.

Im a volunteer firefighter and first reponder. My department recently suffered a lost of a great firefighting brother. You really don’t realize how much that single person influenced your station till there gone. It was hard for us but that next day we were back on calls, holding on to that firefighting tradition. Its hard losing a brother but we all now know that everytime we enter that blazing house we have a new guarding angel.

An eternal flame
warms your names
inscribed on cold, lifeless plaques
around this stone cairn
In the hearts you left behind
your memories abide
in undying gratitude
You asked nothing more
You knew the risks,
served without fear
and paid the highest price
You embody a quality
of which many only dream
Your selfesness for others
is now your eternal crown
O fallen comrades,
give us all this quality
that we may more fittingly
prolong your memory

I have been in the fire service “business” all my life. My daddy retired from the City of Wilmington Fire Department after 30+ years and then decided to continue on by joining a volunteer department. He was Chief at Winter Park Volunteer FD and is currently Deputy Chief at Wrightsboro Voulnteer FD. I have never been so proud to be associated with a profession like I am with the fire service. The men and women that put their lives on the line to protect our property and lives are ALL heroes in my eyes. I appreciate all that have chosen this path and I applaude those who are considering a futire in this field. Thank you for the memorial. What an expression of love for those who have risked it all doing what they love the most. May God bless the families those active and retired firefighters and the ones who have gone before us.

We are forever indebted to you, Justin Monroe and Victor Isler. My heart goes out to the families of these fine men and the heroes who still valiantly protect the lives and property of their neighbors.
Thank you to the area firefighters who are guarding our city, and have come to the rescue of at least one home in the past few days.
Salisbury will never be able to repay Justin Monroe, Victor Isler, or any of the other firefighters who would have just as willingly been on the hose team that entered Salisbury Millwork on that morning, but I hope that the heartfelt thanks of our city might suffice.

My heart aches for the families of those fallen heroes, and for all their co workers and friends. It is a hard thing to go through the loss of a loved one but know that they were doing what they loved to do. And for all those fellow firefighters of those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice no matter how long it has been years from now don’t forget the fallen firefighters family.

On behalf of HeroToHero.US, I would like to express the pain we felt learning of the loss of nine of South Carolina’s best.
Our tour had just taken us through SC, a week or so prior. The tour honors our firefighters. We woke on the morning of the 19th to this heartbreaking news, and finished the last week on the road visiting more houses with their flags lowered to halfstaff, quiet whispers, and knowing eyes. Their loss was felt all across America.
These nine men will always be together, and will stay in the memories and hearts of many who never had the pleasure of meeting them.
We honor, and salute them all, and send our love, prayers and condolences to their families.
God bless, be strong.

Upon hearing about the tragic loss of the 9 Firefighters in Charleston, SC – my heart felt like it skpped many beats as tears came down my face. Knowing my brother is a NC Fallen Firefighter, I know how painful the loss of a loved one can be. To the Mothers / Fathers / Brothers / Sisters / and a Mother and Father’s son or daughter that was lost in this horrific tragedy.. my thoughts and prayers are with each and every one of you on this day. At 7PM tongiht they are asking for all Firefighters to join together in a moment of silence to honor those that showed such heroism and sacrificed their lives. I ask that we ALL join together in this moment of silence at 7PM to honor our Fallen Brothers and Sister(s) lost on this tragic day in time, June 19th – 2007! They are now our Guardian Angels left to watch over us and their fellow brothers and sisters (the Brotherhood) .. their other family … the Charleston Fire Department.
My prayers are with each and every one of them… God please give them the strength they need at this time of loss.
