Anderson Township Line of Duty Death

Firefighters at the Anderson Township Volunteer Fire Department lost one of their own to a car accident.

Captain Michael Dean Stanfield was killed Sept. 10.

Stanfield responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident in his privately owned vehicle with other members of his department.

When the department cleared the scene, Stanfield and one other firefighter exchanged vehicles to return to the station. While returning, Captain Stanfield lost control of the motorcycle he was operating, which left the roadway and struck a tree.

He was transported to the hospital but passed away from injuries received.
